Black August is a time to reflect, learn, and honor the resilience and resistance of Black freedom fighters, thinkers, and creators. This year, we’re coming together to elevate Black voices through literature, art, and expression—and we want you to be part of it.

Join us for a vibrant book fair featuring Black authors, community storytellers, and local Black artists, all helping us engage in and celebrate the principle of Study—one of the four core principles of Black August: Study, Fast, Train, and Fight.

We’ll also host an open mic where attendees can share original poetry, stories, spoken word, freestyle raps, musical pieces, and more—all inspired by the spirit of Black August.

Our goal is to make this more than just a one-time event—we want this gathering to spark a movement toward deeper awareness and more meaningful recognition of Black August right here in Las Vegas.
